Protecting The Past (click photos for larger images)

This sculpture was commissioned for the 100th Anniversary of Mesa Verde National Park. The nostalgic elements of this piece include a Gambel Oak shading a partial ruin wall and a coiled rattlesnake, guardian of an ancient arrowhead and a few pottery shards. At some point in the past, the pot had been drilled as part of a repair, and now a Sego Lily grows up through one of the holes, attracting a Hummingbird.
